Are you a woman who feels overwhelmed? Guilty? Ashamed? Or are you feeling anxious about making a decision? In the process of preparing for a major life change? Is one or more of your relationships struggling? Our lives can throw us some pretty uncomfortable curve balls from time to time and we get to realize we have choices. You may not know what to do with that ball now that you've caught it, and that's ok. The fact that you’re here tells me you have hope.
Life stages, transitions, grief & loss, history of trauma, domestic violence, or abuse; pregnancy, postpartum depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders can all lead to difficulties coping. We need to acknowledge and increase our awareness of our feelings to truly accept ourselves. Aligning with a therapist you trust is a very courageous first step.
You and I work together to sift through your learned beliefs and understanding of self. I walk alongside you, providing the professionally supportive relationship you need to begin challenging old patterns and addressing the areas of your life you want to change. I am able to facilitate therapeutic, evidence-based interventions to assist you in that change.
I’m Emily Allaire (she/her) and I’m a trauma-focus-trained, licensed clinical social worker in Waterloo, Iowa. I specialize in perinatal mental and emotional health issues, infertility, perinatal loss and newborn death, birth trauma, NICU families, and women’s issues.
I utilize psychotherapy, EMDR, Ego State and Parts Work, Polyvagal Theory while working with our nervous system, as well as cognitive behavioral therapies. I am dedicated to helping my clients shift how they perceive themselves, their relationships, responsibilities, and redefine the world around them. Through exploration, discussion, and self forgiveness we work together to shift from negative self talk to healthy coping and self love.
